Our first official meeting took place at Allerston Village Hall in November 2023, which was fully open to all local residents, and it was a true pleasure to welcome Pat and Alan Staniforth. They provided us with an entertaining and enlightening evening, sharing their project aimed at encouraging wildlife into their garden.
Living on the edge of Robin Hood’s Bay, they are fortunate to be surrounded by natural beauty, and their talk was both inspiring and educational. They discussed tree planting, stream management, and how to engage the entire family in their conservation efforts, offering practical tips and personal anecdotes that resonated with everyone present.

In December, Laura showcased her creative talents by making beautiful Christmas wreaths from all-natural materials sourced from Jenny Stead's garden and her own. These wreaths were sold successfully from outside her house, attracting attention and admiration from the community. The initiative was a wonderful success, raising funds for AWE, and we are hopeful that this festive tradition will continue in 2024.
