AWE Village Cake Sale & Raffle

On Saturday, 9th March 2024, the village of Allerston came alive with coffee, cake, and conversation. The occasion? Allerston Wildlife's first-ever village cake sale and raffle, which together raised an impressive £432.63!

The event was a testament to the community's support for local wildlife conservation. Friends and neighbours from Allerston and surrounding areas, alongside a few folks from further afield, gathered at the Methodist Chapel to enjoy a variety of delicious treats and hot/cold drinks and engage in lively conversations. The warm atmosphere was filled with laughter and a shared sense of purpose.

Local bakers outdid themselves, offering a delectable range of cakes. From classic Victoria sponges to indulgent chocolate brownies, there was something to satisfy every palate. Adding to the fun was a raffle with a range of enticing prizes generously donated by villagers and local businesses (NYMR, Beck Isle Museum, and Moore’s Delicatessen). The anticipation built as tickets were drawn, with winners taking home everything from tickets to events, bottles of wine, sweet treats, and local arts and crafts (amongst other things).

The monies raised will go a long way in supporting Allerston Wildlife's ongoing efforts to protect and nurture local wildlife. From maintaining habitats to new planting in Allerston and the surrounding areas, every penny will contribute to making a difference.

The success of this first event has inspired the organisers to plan more community gatherings in the future. With such strong local support, AWE is hopeful that future events will continue to bring the community together and raise even more for the cause.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated donated, and helped organise this wonderful event. Your generosity and community spirit are what make Allerston a truly special place.
